These terms govern your use of BudgetCast. We've kept them in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us at hello@budgetcast.co.uk.
1. Who we are
BudgetCast is a UK-based personal budgeting service operated under the BudgetCast trading name. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean BudgetCast.
2. Who can use BudgetCast
You may use BudgetCast if you are:
- Aged 13 or over (under-18s may use the service without a payment method)
- Using the service for personal, family, or household financial planning
- Not prohibited from using the service under applicable law
By creating an account you confirm these conditions apply to you.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Use a strong, unique password. Tell us immediately at hello@budgetcast.co.uk if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may only hold one account per person. We reserve the right to merge or close duplicate accounts.
4. What's free and what requires a subscription
The core budgeting tool — multiple budgets, full recurrence scheduling, period history, forecasting, and shareable read-only links — is free and will remain free. No credit card is required to use it.
Certain features (Open Banking sync, multi-user shared budgets, advanced reporting, and export) require a paid subscription. Subscription pricing, terms, and available tiers are shown at the point of upgrade. We will not charge you without your explicit consent.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected). You may cancel at any time — your subscription remains active until the end of the paid period, after which it reverts to the free tier. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time except where required by law.
If a payment fails, we will notify you and allow a grace period to update your payment details before downgrading your account to the free tier.
6. Your data
Your budget data belongs to you. We do not sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising. Full details of how we handle your personal data are in our Privacy Policy.
Deletions are permanent. When you delete data — a budget item, a budget, or your account — it is removed immediately and cannot be recovered. Please export anything you need before deleting.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user's account
- Introduce malware, harmful code, or automated scraping tools
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without our written permission
We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
8. Our responsibilities
We aim to keep BudgetCast available, accurate, and secure. We will give reasonable notice of planned maintenance. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access and are not liable for losses resulting from downtime, data loss, or service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.
BudgetCast is a planning tool. It does not constitute financial advice. Always consult a qualified financial adviser for decisions about debt, investment, or major financial commitments.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of BudgetCast is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or £50 if you are a free-tier user). We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit claims.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Closing your account
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Closing your account permanently deletes all your data. This is irreversible. If you have an active subscription, cancel it before closing your account to avoid further charges.
We may close or suspend your account if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if the service is discontinued. Where possible, we will give advance notice.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email of any material changes and update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of BudgetCast after notice of a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
